M/Y Nord is a 36-metre premium liveaboard custom-built in 2024 for the Red Sea, with 15 cabins for up to 30 guests. Twin cabins are split between the lower and upper decks, and the upper deck also has a master suite. Two 1,150 HP MAN engines keep her moving at a good pace between sites. The boat is new, and guests rate her very highly. Nitrox and rental gear are available, a tender takes divers to the reef, and Open Water divers are welcome, with courses run on board. Private charters can be arranged. Egypt's Red Sea has something for most levels. The northern reefs and wrecks, such as Ras Mohammed, the Straits of Tiran, the Thistlegorm and Abu Nuhas, are a good first liveaboard. The south is where the sharks are. The offshore marine parks of the Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone see oceanic whitetips in autumn and early winter, and schooling hammerheads in early summer. Further south, St John's, Fury Shoal and Zabargad have some of the healthiest hard coral in the region. For the offshore parks, Egyptian rules usually require Advanced Open Water and around 50 logged dives. Water temperatures run from about 22°C in winter to 29°C in late summer. Nord suits divers who want a brand-new boat at a mid-range level, and groups looking for a modern boat to charter.

NORD gave us a really good balance. It feels premium without having that overly formal atmosphere where you are scared to walk around barefoot. We could have a busy dive schedule, come back tired, eat, relax and completely switch off. I'd happily return and try one of the other Red Sea itineraries.
We came mainly for diving but the comfort was definitely appreciated. After a long day, having a modern cabin and somewhere nice to sit outside actually matters much more than I thought it would.
Golden Mix is probably the itinerary I would choose next. I like a route where the week changes a little instead of doing similar dives for seven days. After few days on NORD the routine became ridiculously easy and I stopped thinking about anything except the next meal and whether my equipment was dry.
Pelagic Trails was the route that interested us because we wanted something more adventurous. Obviously you can't order sharks from the ocean, so we came with realistic expectations and just enjoyed the trip for what it was. 🦈
