The path of totality crosses Upper Egypt and continues out over the Red Sea toward Saudi Arabia — Cairo sees only a partial eclipse.

Sharks and dolphins, six days of diving
The eclipse takes six minutes. The rest of the week is spent in the water.

Eclipse day aboard
The boat is already at sea on day three, so there is no transfer and no crowd between you and the sky.
MORNING
Normal dive schedule, timed so everyone is back on deck well before first contact.
BEFORE MIDDAY
Partial phase begins. Glasses handed out, viewing briefing on the sundeck.
AROUND 13:00
Totality — roughly six minutes, sun almost directly overhead. Glasses off only for this window.
AFTERNOON
Partial phase ends and the dive programme resumes. Exact times confirmed onboard.
🕶 Eye protection is included
Every guest receives certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses onboard. Looking at the partial phases without them can cause permanent eye damage, and the same applies to cameras, binoculars and dive masks — solar filters are required on any optics.

Before You Book
Getting there and getting aboard
Both ends of the trip fall on a Saturday, which is the standard transfer day.

Book flights that land inside the Saturday window wherever possible. Group transfers are shared, so we cannot take responsibility for missed or delayed departure flights — if your timing is tight, ask us for a private car. Hotel or address changes made less than 7 days before departure carry a 25 EUR per person admin fee.

Eclipse trip FAQ
When exactly is the total solar eclipse in Egypt?
Monday 2 August 2027. Greatest eclipse falls around 13:00 Egypt time, with the deepest part of the path crossing Upper Egypt and continuing over the Red Sea toward Saudi Arabia.
How long does totality last on the Red Sea coast?
Around 6 minutes 15 seconds near Marsa Alam, against a maximum of roughly 6 minutes 23 seconds at the centreline near Luxor. No total eclipse over land will last this long again until 2114.
Can I see the total eclipse from Cairo?
No. Cairo sits outside the path of totality and will see a partial eclipse only. You need to be in Upper Egypt or on the Red Sea coast for the full event.
Are eclipse glasses provided?
Yes. Certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses are supplied onboard for every guest. Cameras, binoculars and any other optics need their own solar filters, which you should bring yourself.
What is the weather likely to be?
Cloud cover over Egypt in summer is close to zero, and clear-sky pockets continue along the Red Sea coast even as cloud starts building near the shoreline. Being on a boat also means the position can be adjusted.
Will we dive on eclipse day?
Yes, the dive programme continues, timed around the eclipse so everyone is on deck for the partial phases and totality. The captain confirms the day’s schedule onboard.
What does the trip cost in total?
From 2,400 EUR per person for a lower deck cabin and 3,200 EUR for upper deck, plus 215 EUR taxes and fees. Nitrox, larger tanks, equipment rental and crew tips are extra.
Can non-divers join?
Yes. Snorkelling and water sports run alongside the dive programme, and the eclipse itself is watched from the deck. Tell us who is diving and who is not when you enquire.
