When can I dive Tubbataha Reefs?
Tubbataha is only accessible by liveaboard from March to June each year, when the Sulu Sea is calm enough to make the crossing. Berths are limited and popular dates can sell out 12 to 18 months ahead, so it pays to book early.
Where can I see thresher sharks in the Philippines?
Malapascua’s Monad Shoal is one of the only places in the world with reliable, near-daily thresher shark sightings, usually on an early dawn dive at a deep cleaning station.
Is the Philippines good for wreck diving?
Yes — Coron is famous for its fleet of sunken WWII Japanese ships, now transformed into living reefs, making it one of the region’s top wreck-diving destinations.
Do I need to be an experienced diver?
Not necessarily. Many sites suit divers from Open Water upward, and dive guides tailor sites to the group. Some Tubbataha walls and channel dives have current and depth, so a little experience and good guiding help you get the most from them.
Is the Philippines a year-round diving destination?
Yes. The dry season from roughly December to June brings the best visibility, and while Tubbataha is a spring-only park, boats run the Visayas, Malapascua, Coron, and Apo Reef throughout the year.
