The short answer

No, you are not too young

Liveaboards are for all ages. A week on a boat costs more than a day of diving, so it can look like a trip for later in life. It is not.

A boat checks your certification and your dive count. It does not check your birthday. Every boat has its own rules, and we check them for you.

Age matters less

Guests of many ages share the same boat, the same briefings and the same dive deck.

Your logbook matters more

Boats look at your cert and how many dives you have. That is what keeps you safe.

The myth

Where the “older divers” idea comes from

A liveaboard is a week at sea. It costs more than a few days at a resort, so many people think it is a trip for later, when you have more time and more money.

Małgorzata thought the same. She is a professional diver. This year she started work as an instructor and an underwater videographer. She had been to Egypt before, but never on a liveaboard. She believed they were expensive and mostly for older divers, so she planned her own trips.

Then she joined a week on Alsuraya for our New Wave project.

Her week

“I was very, very wrong”

That is how Małgorzata sums up her old idea. On the boat, she met other divers and quickly changed her mind.

Her group barely knew each other on day one. By the end it felt like a small diving family. She liked the simple things: coffee on deck at dawn, a full briefing before every dive, and meals from the chef between dives.

Her biggest surprise was the lack of phone signal at sea. She said she enjoyed every moment more without messages or work.

Why go

Why younger divers love liveaboards

A week on a boat is a different kind of trip.

More dives

Many liveaboards run three or four dives a day. Your dive count goes up fast.

Remote sites

A boat reaches offshore reefs, like the Brothers and Daedalus, that you cannot reach from shore.

Nothing to plan

Briefings, meals and dive times are set. The crew handles the routine.

No phone signal

Out at sea there is no signal. Małgorzata called it the biggest surprise of her trip.
