Am I Too Young for a Liveaboard? A Week in Egypt
Małgorzata thought liveaboards were for older divers, then spent a week on one in Egypt.

Red Sea Aggressor V is a 40-metre (131 ft) steel liveaboard built in 2020 for the southern Red Sea, with five decks and 13 staterooms for up to 26 guests. Four master staterooms have queen beds; the other nine deluxe staterooms have twin or king set-ups. Every cabin has a private bathroom, TV, hairdryer, mini-fridge and safe. Inside, the air-conditioned salon has a full bar. The upper deck adds a hot tub and a second bar, and there's a shaded sundeck. Meals mix Egyptian and international dishes with fresh seafood, and beer, wine and soft drinks are included. The dive deck is set up the Aggressor way: plenty of room, personal gear storage, nitrox fills and a camera area with servicing equipment. The boat supports sidemount and takes Open Water divers, with courses available. The southern Red Sea is the quieter, wilder half of Egypt. Reefs like St John's, Fury Shoal, Rocky Island and Zabargad have healthy hard coral and fewer boats, and Elba Reef near the Sudanese border is about as remote as Egypt gets. Dolphins are common, and sharks turn up on the offshore reefs, especially in autumn. Water stays warm, from about 23°C in winter to 29°C in summer. Red Sea Aggressor V suits photographers, divers who want the deep south without the crowds, and anyone who likes the predictable Aggressor routine.

I would happily use Red Sea Aggressor V again and just choose another route next time. That's what I like about boats offering different Deep South programs. You already know the boat works for you, but the next holiday can still feel completely different. By the end of our week everybody was tired, very relaxed and already discussing another date.
Elba Reef made this feel like a real change from the Egypt trips I had already done. If you already know the north, going farther south makes alot more sense than repeating exactly the same places. There was more travelling involved, but I didn't mind because that was part of the reason I booked it. Sitting outside during the crossings became one of my favourite parts of the day.
I packed way too much as usual. By day four I was basically wearing the same few clothes because everything else just stayed inside the suitcase.
We was expecting a much more serious atmosphere because everyone onboard had quite a bit of diving experience. Actually the group was very relaxed and social.
