Ambon–Banda–Ambon gave us the Indonesia trip we wanted. It isn't a quick add-on to another holiday, you actually commit to being onboard and exploring the region. By the end, putting proper shoes on and dealing with airports again felt completely wrong.
Eight nights looked long when I booked it but became one of the easiest holidays I've done. Once you're onboard there is almost nothing to organise.
The remote feeling was my favourite part. No hotels, no daily packing, no transport arrangements, just the boat moving while you sleep.
After few days everyone had a very specific routine. Same cup, same chair, same place for leaving stuff to dry.
