MV Valentina is a 38-metre (130 ft) steel-hulled motor yacht built in 1999 and refitted in 2013, and she has spent years running trips around the Baja California peninsula. She takes up to 20 guests in 10 air-conditioned cabins, each with its own bathroom. Two deluxe cabins on the main deck have a double plus a single bed, the Valentina cabin has a double, and seven deluxe twins have bunk beds. Inside, the air-conditioned salon and dining room serve a mix of Mexican, European and Asian food, and wine comes with dinner. There's an open bar, a camera station, and a partially covered sun deck that's good for stargazing on calm nights. Nitrox is available, the boat supports sidemount, and land excursions are part of the trip. Valentina usually follows the seasons. From late summer into autumn she dives the Sea of Cortez, with playful sea lions at the colonies near La Paz, mobula rays and big schools of fish. From around November to May she moves to the Revillagigedo islands (Socorro) for giant mantas, humpback whales and sharks. Socorro trips involve long open-water crossings, cooler water and current, so they suit divers with Advanced Open Water and solid experience. The Sea of Cortez is easier and works for a wider range of levels. Valentina suits small groups, families who want a friendly boat, and divers who want both sides of Baja.
