About the fleet

What to know about the Nautilus Fleet

Nautilus Fleet yachts cover very different Mexican diving from one operator. Nautilus Explorer is the smaller boat and works the Sea of Cortez around La Paz and Loreto. Nautilus Belle Amie is the larger one, with the Magdalena Bay sardine run and a longer Socorro combo. Mexican water is cooler than the tropics and can bring swell and current, so we recommend Advanced Open Water and some recent diving.

FAQ

Questions about the Nautilus Fleet

Which Nautilus Fleet liveaboards can I book with BookDiveBoat?
Nautilus Explorer and Nautilus Belle Amie, both in Mexico. Each has its own page with dates, prices and cabin types.
What is included in the price on a Nautilus Fleet liveaboard?
On both boats the price covers your cabin, full-board meals and snacks, drinking water, tea and coffee, the diving package, kayaks and paddleboards. Nautilus Explorer also lists juice, night dives and a hot tub, and Nautilus Belle Amie adds soft drinks and welcome cocktails. The exact list for each yacht is on its boat page.
What extra costs should I budget for?
The 5% Mexican tax, marine park fees and a port fee are paid on top on both boats. Nautilus Explorer can add a fuel surcharge, and Nautilus Belle Amie requires dive insurance. Alcohol, rental gear, gratuities and transfers are optional. The amounts are shown on each boat page.
Is nitrox included?
No. Nitrox is a paid extra on both boats, and the current price is listed under optional extras on each boat page.
What certification do I need?
We recommend Advanced Open Water and some recent diving experience on both boats, because the water is cooler and can have swell and current. Tell us your logged dives and we will say honestly whether a route suits you. Our certification guide has more detail.
Is the Magdalena Bay sardine run a scuba trip?
Mostly not. The sardine run on Nautilus Belle Amie is mainly a snorkelling and freediving wildlife expedition rather than a week of standard scuba diving. The Socorro combo trip adds diving.
When is the Socorro season?
The season runs from November to May. Read our Socorro liveaboard guide before you choose dates.
How many guests does each Nautilus Fleet yacht carry?
Nautilus Explorer carries up to 25 guests in 13 cabins, and Nautilus Belle Amie carries up to 32 guests in 17 cabins.
