The Surin Islands are the northern end of a Thai liveaboard route, close to the border with Myanmar in Thailand. The park includes shallow fringing reefs around the islands and Richelieu Rock, the best-known dive in the Andaman Sea. Longer Similan & Surin trips give you more time up here.

FAQ

Surin Islands Liveaboard Questions

When can I dive the Surin Islands?
The Surin National Park is open from 15 October to 15 May, the same season as the Similans.
Is Richelieu Rock part of the Surin Islands?
Yes. Richelieu Rock is inside the Surin National Park, a short boat ride from the islands.
Do liveaboards go to Surin only?
No. Most visit Surin as part of a Similan & Surin route of 4 to 6 nights.
Is it good for snorkelling?
Yes. The reefs around the islands are shallow, so snorkelling partners can join many stops.
What experience do I need?
Open Water is enough for the shallow reefs. Richelieu Rock and Koh Tachai can have current, so more experience helps there.
Where do trips leave from?
Most leave from Khao Lak, about an hour north of Phuket International Airport (HKT).
